Eduardo Coutinho (1980, Portugal) received his degree in Engineering in 2003 from the University of Oporto (Portugal) and the University of Florence (Italy), where he specialized in intelligent models of animal behavior, following his parallel studies in biology and psychology. From 2004 to 2008, Coutinho conducted his PhD in the United Kingdom sponsored by the Portuguese government, where he has been researching on the psychophysiological effects of music in human emotions, having developed computational models capable of representing and predicting human affective reactions to music. In paralell with his research studies he has also developed some projects in composition and interactive art. Currently, Coutinho his a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Sheffield investigating the relationhips between the dynamics psychoacoustic features in music and speech and the perception of emotion.
