During my stay in Boston I attended a course at the MIT with Peter Whincop (he teaches the course "Composing with Computers" over there, and was great in allowing me to participate in the course). This is the piece from one of the assignments. (...) more ... |
pendulum: Experiment with feedback
|
During my stay in Boston I attended a course at the MIT with Peter Whincop (he teaches the course "Composing with Computer" over there, and was great in allowing me to participate in the course). The idea for this essentially started with a discussing with Peter about Steve Reich's pendulum music. At the end the only connection with it is really the fact that I used swinging microphones. eDGe
|
eDGe is a transdisciplinary project happening in the form of an audio-visual performance based on a interactive software of Augmented Reality (where physical and digital spaces converge). The body is the core of the performance from where both image and sound emerge. An interactive feedback loop is created in which the bodies affect and get affected by the sound and video that themselves create. The current form of this project happens in a stage performance form, where the dancers interact with the video system generating both image and sound. This is a project from the Swap Project team (take a look at their interesting work) for which I was invited to collaborate in the music creation. (...) more ... |

parla: Sound for a work by Guto Nóbrega

Parla is an interactive system for the "animation" of a virtual body. The virtual body responds to levels of sound energy captured by a microphone. An algorithm analyses the sound input as dynamic variables for the creation of a digital entity. (...) more ... |

broadbandchat: Experiment with Max Msp and Skype
|
In February João and I recorded the image on our screens when using a chat software using a webcam. This video is the result of that. The music I did it later and it is in part self-generated. It was only an experiment to listen to an idea that came when seeing the movie. Using a Max patch, and establishing the initial conditions, the music evolves in time using external feedback from a microphone. I used then this information, together with a set of predefined patterns, to generate the next state of the melody. The rest was done with some voice samples. (...) more ... |
